When the pilot valve opens, the pressure in this chamber drops, and the needle lifts. However, the relationship between the pilot valve's opening and the needle's response is not instantaneous-it is governed by the hydraulic capacitance of the chamber. A larger chamber volume requires more fuel to flow out before the pressure drops sufficiently, creating a delay and a softened response. This "dead volume" acts as a buffer that smooths the injection but also blunts the responsiveness. The CAT 32F61-00014 reduces the control chamber dead volume to 25.5 mm³-the smallest in the C13/C15 injector family-providing a higher hydraulic amplification that translates the pilot valve's movement into a faster, more precise needle response. Hydraulic Amplification Ratio – The 32F61-00014's Advantage
The hydraulic amplification ratio is defined as the ratio of the needle lift to the pilot valve movement.
